What is a BBA degree?
The Bachelor of Business Administration program prepares graduates for a wide range of managerial positions in business, government and nonprofit organizations. Business administration students acquire fundamental, practical and professional skills in all phases of business, including strategic planning, leadership, management, marketing, operations, budgeting and finance. The program also provides a strong liberal arts component that develops communications skills, information literacy, abstract thinking and critical analysis while fostering historical, political and social awareness.
How long does a BBA take?
- At Strayer, we offer classes year-round on the quarterly system, which means we have a fall, winter, spring and summer term.
- Each quarter is approximately 11 weeks long and is worth 4.5 credit hours.
- The BBA program has 40 courses, equal to 180 credit hours.
- The specific length of time to earn your BBA will depend on how many courses you take per term.

How will you learn?
Courses vary in the number of class meetings per week but generally meet at least once a week. To participate, students need reliable access to a computer and internet. Each course requires approximately 13.5 hours per week.
All courses are taught by Strayer faculty. Faculty will assess your learning progress through a range of methods, including discussions, videos, written exams, quizzes, projects, presentations, research papers and case studies. You’ll have access to your instructors outside of scheduled online class sessions as needed, and you’ll also receive regular feedback from your instructors.
Class size varies based on course objectives and the teaching demands of the subject matter. In general, Strayer University aims to keep the student-to-instructor ratio low.

Program cost breakdown
In most cases, Strayer’s BBA program consists of 40 courses, with the price of $1525 per course. There are additional fees for textbooks and supplies, a $65 technology fee each term and a one-time $150 degree conferral fee.
Transfer credits
Courses from another institution may be eligible for transfer credits to Strayer, which can help reduce the number of courses you need to graduate and your overall tuition. You can transfer up to four classes toward your bachelor’s degree (if approved). The Strayer transfer credit page has more information, as well as a tool to estimate how many transfer credits you may be able to apply to your Strayer degree program.
Scholarships and financial aid
There are a number of financial aid options worth exploring on our financial aid page. To apply for federal aid, prospective students should fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. Stafford loans are available for graduate study. These are direct unsubsidized loans, not based on financial need. Unlike subsidized loans, Stafford loan interest will accrue while in the program. Making interest payments while in school will help reduce the amount of principal that would otherwise build up, reducing your end cost.
There are also scholarships and private loans available for Strayer students.
More than 500 organizations – including corporations and community colleges – invest in their employees by partnering with Strayer University to offer access to discounted education programs. If your employer is a Corporate Alliance Partner, you may qualify for programs that can help you discover career pathways in your field.
Private loans
Nonfederal loans can help pay the difference between the cost of attendance and the total of loans and grants received from other tuition assistance programs.
Military tuition assistance
Scholarships are offered to eligible students currently serving in the military, as well as military spouses. Strayer is also approved by Veterans Affairs to accept and process veteran education benefits. Learn more about the Strayer University active military assistance program here.

In addition to participating fully in the Yellow Ribbon Program, Strayer is approved by Veterans Affairs to accept and process veteran education benefits. Student veterans can receive transfer credit for military training and life experiences.

Altering a recipe, planning a road trip, buying a car, and financing college—what do all of these things have in common? An understanding of numbers and how to use and interpret them. In the workplace, business, technology, and criminal justice professionals all use math. In this course, you will learn how to approach mathematics in a way that will positively inform your world. Learn how to use an easily understandable approach for basic math and algebra to create meaning and see the world in a new way.
Persuasion is a powerful tool for influencing the world around you. In this course, you'll learn how to understand, influence, and connect with your audience using your writing. You'll also learn how to research and analyze the writing of others to evaluate their credibility as well as document sources that help you make your point. Prerequisite ENG 116, HIS 110, or PSY 101.
Provides a foundation in today's business operations with a focus on the major functions of a business (management, production, marketing, finance and accounting, human resource management, and various support functions). The course also provides an overview of business organizations and the competitive business environment, strategic planning, international business, ethical considerations, quality assurance and more.
Provides a survey of fundamental management concepts and techniques. This information contributes to effective management and provides a foundation for the continued study of management applications. Emphasis is placed on the roles, the environment, and the primary functions of the manager (planning, organizing, leading, controlling), as well as the skills required and various techniques used to perform these functions. The course will also highlight the development of management principles and their integration into modern management theory. The communication process, motivation, and operations (production) management are also presented.
This course is the capstone course for the Bachelor of Business Administration program. It examines the processes by which organizations formulate strategy, implement policy, and evaluate outcomes in the highly competitive and dynamic global environment. The ethical implications of strategic choices are a central concern of this course. Analytic, integrative, and decision-making skills will be exercised through the use of case analysis and decision-making.
A grade of C or higher is required for satisfactory course completion.
